Hogwarts Legacy - Gobmine Dungeon Lighting Art 02

I'm incredibly excited to share some of my lighting work on the Global Lighting Pipeline for Hogwarts Legacy! I had the privilege of contributing to this AAA title for next-gen consoles alongside a team of exceptionally talented individuals at Avalanche - WB Games back in 2020. A huge thank you to Adam Tolman, David McClellan, Mike Thompson, and Lyle Thompson for giving me this amazing opportunity.

Our mission was to push lighting quality to its limits, which led me to explore physically based light values and their integration into our custom global lighting system. Achieving this required close collaboration with multiple teams, including Rendering Engineering, VFX, Environment, and Lighting, ensuring a seamless and immersive lighting experience.

My contributions centered around implementing Physically Based Lighting (PBL) within the day-night cycle, global auto exposure, and auto white balance, as well as troubleshooting GI-related challenges and documenting the lighting pipeline to establish clear guidelines.

As a long-time Harry Potter fan, working on this project was truly a dream come true. A massive thank you to the incredible teams at Avalanche and Studio Gobo for making this journey so rewarding!
